Sitting unused for decades, SubStation No. 164 is the ambitious revitalisation of two adjacent historic Sydney buildings at 183–185 Clarence Street. Now one of Sydney's most innovative office developments, it sets a new benchmark for heritage buildings of the future — floating a seven-storey sculptural glass office space above the original heritage fabric.

By retaining as much of the building's heritage as possible, the project's upfront carbon footprint was reduced by 24%. Construction used 100% green power onsite, diverted 90% of waste from landfill, and achieved a 97% recycling rate — while attaining 6-Star Green Star and WELL Platinum ratings.
